FAQs

What the heck is a “Step and Repeat” anyway?

Good question. The term originates from two sources. The first is the action of having talent “step” onto the red carpet, pose for the photographers and leave, while the next person follows and “repeats” the process. The second source originates from graphic designers that would create an image and repeat it in Photoshop. Overall, it refers to a wall that has sponsors logos on it for the purposes of advertising and capturing photos of celebrity or noteworthy people to be used in media outlets in film, television, magazines and websites.

Why Step and Repeats.com?

With over 25 years in the signs and graphics industry we are known and trusted as the premier Step and Repeat provider. Unlike other printers, event signage is our profession. Every day we provide quality event signage nationwide. The vast experience of our expert team will make your red carpet event special.

How do I handle the graphics?

That’s our job. Our team will always provide a complete graphics proof for your approval prior to printing. Our proofs are always to scale, so you’ll know exactly what your Step and Repeat will look like on event day.

What graphic file types can I supply?

We prefer Vector Outline EPS files or Adobe Illustrator. These allow us to scale your logo to any size without any loss of quality. Also, vector files are never “pixelated”. JPEGS and PDF’s will work. Just keep in mind, if the file is really small, when it’s scaled up it can be blurry or “pixelated.”

How do I send the graphic files?

Most times email is fine. Otherwise we can open a FTP link for you to upload your files.

What about rush orders?

Most printers “outsource” their work to other printers like ourselves (Yes, we are wholesale too!). That usually acccounts for their slow lead time. With us, you’re going to the source. Keep in mind that altough we have the fastest turnaround in the industry, we still need as much courtesy notice as possible.

Is your pricing competitive?

Absolutely! We work in bulk so our pricing is excellent. Of course you can always find cheaper print, but you get what you pay for. Keep in mind that the materials used are “photographic” quality and most printers will sell you cheap vinyl with “high sheen” glossy finish. This kills photos and photogs hate it.

What is your print quality?

We use state-of-the-art printers that are six-color printers; most printers use four-color print. The difference is startling. We print at a standard rate and never use fast “production” speed. This reduces “banding” in our print, which are lines in the artwork. All printers have some banding, but the slower the speed, the less banding. This translates to higher-quality images in photos.

What’s the difference between boards and banners?

Basically, there are compelling reasons to use both depending on the event. If you require absolute perfection in your wall, use the hard panel step and repeats. They are wireimage quality 1/2″ thick hard plastic foam-core, with low glare sheets of photo quality vinyl hand-laid individually. They come in 5 ft wide x 8 ft tall sections and can be daisy-chained to upwards of 100 ft.

The sheet vinyl is equal in print quality and is used by our customers that need to have a Step and Repeat present and strong for mid-size events. They are fast to set up and are the workhorse of our business. Our specialized system keeps the panels taut to eliminate wrinkles and provide an all around finished wall.
